Cabinet Spokesman, Minister Dr. Bandula Gunawardena yesterday stressed the importance of having a strong legal system for all the fields to help the country to recover from the current crisis. The Minister said that the Broadcasting Authority Act will be drafted soon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The minister said this yesterday (30) while attending the press conference to announce the cabinet decisions held at the Government Information Department.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Commenting further, the minister pointed out that broadcasting licences are not granted according to any internationally recognized standard system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Therefore, he pointed out that a Cabinet sub-committee has been appointed under the chairmanship of Dr. Wijeyedasa Rajapakshe to draft a Broadcasting Authority Act.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In order to get the country out of this situation, a legal framework that is acceptable to all is needed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
