The Kelani Valley railway line\u2019s schedule will be changed as of the fifth of the next month, according to General Manager of Railways Gamini Seneviratne.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He said that announcements regarding the changes to other routes would follow soon after.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Additionally, he states that every 5 to 10 minutes, the train operations will vary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A representative for the railway department stated that there are challenges to the continued operation of the train service due to the lack of staff.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He also added that there has been no progress in filling the 8,000 open positions for employees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Though no authorization has yet been given, Sri Lanka Railways claimed that it has asked the Public Services Commission for permission to fill the staffing gaps.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
