On the initiative of the Honorable President Ranil Wickremesinghe to promote the crippled tourism in the country, the Minister of Tourism and Lands, Honorable Minister Harin Fernando visited the Office of Chief of Defence Staff for the organizing conference of the \u2018Christmas Festival Zone 2022\u2019 and the meeting was held at the Conference Hall of the office on 08 December 2022. The Honorable Minister Harin Fernando addressing the gathering explained the aim and objectives of this endeavour and discussed the prerequisites for the Christmas Celebration Festival Zone planned to be conducted in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism and Lands, in Galle Face and Nelumpokuna premises from 18th to 27th December 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the meeting, it was highlighted that the plans are underway to illuminate the adjoining areas simultaneously in line with the main two destinations. The programme is also comprised of mega entertaining events that accommodate dog shows and musical and dancing festivals performed by Tri-forces, Police and Civil Security Department bands.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Shavendra Silva WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc MPhil had been entrusted with the coordination of Tri-forces, Police and Civil Security Department in making this national event a success. The CDS, on behalf of the Honorable Minister, expressed his gratitude for the positive response of the participants, and the need for the continued assistance of all the stakeholders to succeed in this joint undertaking was emphasised. He further extended special thanks to the two sponsors of the event \u2018Red Bull\u2019 and \u2018Daraz\u2019 for their concern for the development of the economy of the country. During the conference, General Shavendra Silva also gratefully appreciated the corporation and support extend by the Tri-Forces Commanders, Inspector General of Police, and the Director General of the Civil Security Department.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
