The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Shavendra Silva WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc MPhil accompanied by Mrs Sujeewa Nelson paid their last respect to the late Anuradhapura Atamasthanadhipathi, North Central Province Chief Sanghanayaka Most Venerable Dr. Pallegama Siriniwasa Thero (21 October 2022).
During the visit, the CDS extended his deepest condolences to the chief priest of the most sacred Ruwanweli Maha Seya, Most Venerable Pallegama Hemarathana Thero and venerable theros of Atamasthana (Eight Sacred Places). General Sharendra Silva also spared time to share thoughts with the venerable theros present at the funeral.
Most Venerable Pallegama Sirinivasa Thero spent his monastic life meaningfully, constantly dedicating himself to the betterment of the people and Buddhism, and was 69 at the time of his demise. The final rites of the late Atamasthanadhipathi will be held on 22nd October 2022 in Anuradhapura.
