Indian national arrested at Sri Lanka’s Colombo airport smuggling gold worth over Rs.12 million

Oct 22, Colombo: Officers of Sri Lanka Customs at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) at Katunayake have arrested an Indian citizen when he attempted to smuggle gold biscuits worth over Rs. 12.6 million.

The passenger has brought the gold carefully hidden in his luggage. He has brought 815 grams of gold in his luggage Customs officers said.

In addition to the gold biscuits, he has also brought a belt buckle made of gold, the Customs officers said.
