Hashan Tillekaratne, the head coach of Sri Lanka’s women’s cricket team, summited in his letter of resignation to Ashley de Silva, the CEO of Sri Lanka Cricket, yesterday. He is anticipated to take over as head coach of Bangladesh’s women’s cricket team.
Hashan Tillekaratne confirmed to that a meeting with representatives of the Bangladesh Cricket Board resulted in a decision for him to take over as head coach of the Bangladesh women’s cricket team beginning on November 1. I have planned to leave for Bangladesh on October 31 as the first job is to travel to New Zealand with the Bangladesh women’s squad before returning to Sri Lanka for the Bangladesh match series in January.
Former Sri Lankan captain Hashan claimed that during his tenure, Sri Lanka Cricket provided excellent assistance to the women’s team, and that he was fortunate to end his task as the runners-up at the just finished Asia Cup T 20 cricket competition in Bangladesh. In fact, we finished second in the women’s Asia Cup after 14 years. Tillekaratne continued, “We have a strong women’s side in Sri Lanka, and our supporting staff will manage the team after my departure.”
