Asitha Fernando has been approved by the Event Technical Committee of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 to take Binura Fernando’s spot in the Sri Lankan team.
After Binura Fernando was ruled out due to a left hamstring injury sustained in Tuesday’s match against Australia in Perth, Asitha Fernando, who has participated in three T20Is, was selected as a replacement. From Sri Lanka, he will depart for Australia to join the rest of the team.
Before a player who has been replaced may be formally included to the squad, the Event Technical Committee must give its permission.
