Army seized illegal drugs worth six crores last week

Army personnel have been deployed in all over the island to curtail illegal drug trafficking and to arrest the people involved with them. According to the instructions given by the Commander of the Army Lt. Gen. Vikum Liyanage, the Intelligence troops conduct surveillance and with the support of Special Task Force and the Police have been able to seized drugs worth about six million rupees during the past week.

According to this, troops have seized many drugs including Kerala cannabis, Heroin, Ice, Cannabis, Cigarettes, illegal liquor and Goda.

Among the seized drugs, a stock of Kerala cannabis with an approximate value of five crore rupees is also included. 31 suspects were also arrested along with the drug stock and handed over to the police by the army for further investigations.
