Nathan (née Narendrarajah) Sivasambu. 24 July 1928 – 29 October 2022 (London, UK) We announce the passing of Sivasambu Narendrarajah on 29.10.2022. He attended the University of Peradeniya, reading Philosophy and subsequently moved to the UK. A remarkable man, infused with sharp mind and great intelligence, he had an undiminished passion to preserve the antiquities of Sri Lanka. Heco-founded the Ceylon Bloomsbury Group and organised discussions devoted to Sri Lankan literary and political issues, including at the “Great Court” café within the British Museum in recent decades. As ‘an old-school Trotskyite and a Sri Lankan to the core’ despite moving to England in the 1950s, he sustained his interest in island politics, as well as the Sri Lankan literary world. Living his life on his terms, there was none so unique as Nathan Narendrarajah Sivasambu and it is doubtful there will ever be again. Condolences [email protected]
