Sri Lanka Navy rowers won gold and silver medals in the 37th Senior National Senior Rowing Championship -2022. The event organized by Amateur Rowing Association of Sri Lanka was held at the Diyawanna Lake in Baththaramulla on 04th and 05th November 2022.
Rowers from 12 rowing clubs contested in the tournament in which 08 men’s and 06 women’s teams from Navy Sailing Pool raced for coveted glory.
In Open Men’s Pairs Able Seaman Naleen Madushanka and Able Infantryman Namal Premakumara won gold medals. In Open Men’s Fours Able Seaman Gayan Satharasinghe, Able Seaman Naleen Madushanka, Able Infantryman Namal Premakumara and Able Seaman Sankalpa Samarakoon won silver medals.
Meanwhile, Woman Leading Seaman Udeshini Sumanatissa and Woman Leading Seaman Udeshika Subhashini bagged gold medals in Open Women’s Pairs. In addition, Woman Leading Seaman Udeshini Sumanatissa, Woman Leading Seaman Nirosha Sandamali, Woman Leading Seaman Udeshika Subhashini and Woman Able Seaman Madushani Jayasinghe won silver medals in Open Women’s Fours.
Going by the directives of Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne, a lot of facilities have been made available for the progress of Navy sports and the Navy athletes have made significant feats in national and international level in recent times.
