President Hon. Ranil Wickremesinghe, in his capacity as the Minister of Finance, Economic Stabilization & National Policies presented the opening speech of the second reading of the Appropriation Bill for the year 2023 to Parliament at 1.30 p.m. today.
Accordingly, the debate on the second reading of the Appropriation Bill will begin tomorrow (15), and the voting for the second reading will be held on November 22 at 5.00 pm. The debate on the second reading of the budget will be held from 9.30 am to 5.30 pm and the time from 5.30 pm to 6.00 pm has been allotted for the Questions at the Adjournment Time or Motions at the Adjournment Time.
Subsequently, the debate on the committee stage of the Appropriation Bill is scheduled to be held from November 23 to December 8 until 7.00 pm. and the voting will be held on December 8 at 7.00 pm.
Parliament is scheduled to meet on all other days of the week except Sundays and Poya Day during the budget debate to be held from November 14 to December 8.
Meanwhile, during the budget debate, no time has been set aside for Questions for Oral Answers.
