In honour of all fallen War Heroes of this great nation, the Sri Lanka Ex-Servicemen’s Association (SLESA) commemorated the Remembrance Day more commonly known as the ‘Poppy Day’ at Vihara Maha Devi Park Cenotaph (13 October 2022)
The ceremony was graced by the Secretary of the Ministry of Defence, General GDH Kamal Gunaratne (Retd) WWV RWP RSP USP ndc psc MPhil as the Chief Guest. The Chief of Defence Staff, General Shavendra Silva WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc MPhil and Commanders of Sri Lanka Navy and Air Force along with number of senior officers of the tri-services and members of the SLESA were present at the occasion.
Commencing the ceremony, a moment of silence was observed in memory of fallen. The first wreath was laid by the Chief Guest and then the distinguished personalities present at the occasion laid the wreaths during the ceremony. The event was also comprised of the Veteran’s March Past. The event culminated with a Group Photograph.
