The Directorate of Dental Services of Sri Lanka Navy organized a familiarization programme for the undergraduates of the Faculty of Dental Sciences, University of Sri Jayewardenepura at the Navy General Hospital (NGH), Colombo on 28th October 2022.
The initiative transpired as part of an agreement to share laboratory and clinical resources of NGH Colombo for the training of undergraduates of the newly established Faculty of Dental Sciences, University of Sri Jayewardenepura.
The Dean of the Faculty of Dental Sciences, University of Sri Jayewardenepura has made a request from the Sri Lanka Navy to share its resources for the benefit of undergraduates of the newly established Faculty of Dental Sciences, taking into account the colossal amount of money that needs to be incurred on similar facilities.
Accordingly, necessary arrangements for the provision of facilities were made at the directives of Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne and with the approval of the Ministry of Defence. The familiarization programme was participated by 32 undergraduates including 02 officer cadets from the Faculty of Dental Sciences, University of Sri Jayewardenepura. The Navy relishes the prospect taking the opportunity as a national responsibility and avail itself to strengthen the partnership between national universities and military hospitals.
