Major General DBSN Bothota RWP RSP USP psc assumed duties as 29th Commander of Security Forces Headquarters (Jaffna) on 26th December 2022 during a brief ceremony at the SFHQ (Jaffna) premises.
In accordance with military traditions, Major General Swarna Bothota reviewed the Guard Turnout and received the salute of the Guard of Honour, presented by the troops of the Sri Lanka Armoured Corps Regiment, after his arrival at the SFHQ (Jaffna) premises. Subsequently, the newly-appointed Jaffna Commander attended the commemoration of fallen War Heroes of the Armed Forces, who served under Security Forces Headquarters (Jaffna) and floral tribute was offered to those heroes at the Palaly War Heroes’ Monument. Afterwards, the new Commander planted a Mango sapling in the complex and posed for a group photograph with respective Senior Officers, Officers serving under the Security Forces (Jaffna) symbolizing the significance of this special day.
As members of the Maha Sanga commenced chanting Seth Pirith and invoking blessings on his new appointment, Major General Swarna Bothota placed his signature in the first document, signifying the acceptance of his office in the presence of General Officers Commanding of 51, 52, 55 Infantry Divisions, Commander Forward Maintenance Area (North) and Senior Staff Officers of Security Forces Headquarters (Jaffna). Religious dignitaries of Hindu, Catholic and Islam were also present during the taking over formalities and blessed him for his new appointment.
Setting out his scope of work and duties, the new Commander Security Forces Jaffna addressed all the Officers and Other Ranks serving in Jaffna and briefed regarding outline office action plan and the importance of working as a team for the prosperity of the country and promotion of the Army image. Finally he attended All-Ranks tea in the Security Forces Headquarters (Jaffna).
Division Commanders of 51, 52 and 55 Infantry Divisions, Commander Forward Maintenance Area (North), Brigade Commanders of under command Brigades, Commanding Officers of Affiliated and Logistic Battalions, Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks were attended the ceremony.
