The 9th contingent of the Sri Lanka Army Medical Corps (SLAMC) left the country early this morning on Tuesday (2) to take over duties in the United Nations Peace-Keeping Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) to serve in the Level-2 SRIMED Hospital.
The 9th South Sudan bound contingent, commanded by Colonel M.P.S.R Amarasekara and 2nd in Command, Major J.A.D.C.H Jayasinghe is made up of 66 Army personnel, including 17 Officers and 49 Other Ranks.
Representing the Commander of the Army, Brigadier Asanga Perera, Director at Directorate of Overseas Operations, Brigadier Mahen Salwathura, Centre Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Medical Corps, together with Senior Officers saw the Sri Lankan contingent off at the Bandaranaike International Airport.
