To mark the Birthday of His Excellency the President Ranil Wickremesinghe which fell on 24th March, Hon Premitha Bandara Tennakoon, State Minister of Defence along with Mr Sagala Ratnayaka, Chief of Staff and National Security Advisor to the President visited the War Heroes at Mihindu Seth Madura in Attidiya. They were warmly received by the Commandant and staff of Mihindu Seth Madura and this endeavour was organised by the President Media Division.
During the visit, the State Minister of Defence and National Security Advisor to the President highly commended and sincerely appreciated the service of the gallant worries of the nation and also inquired into the progress of their well-being. Afterwards, gift packs comprised of most essential items for all the inmates of the centre were presented in recognition of their noble sacrifices made to the nation.
Bestowing an unforgettable day, the National Security Advisor to the President made a telephone call to His Excellency the President Ranil Wickremesinghe and made an opportunity to one of the bedridden War Heroes to speak with the HE the President where President Ranil Wickremesinghe extended his utmost gratefulness for the sacrifices made on behalf of a peaceful nation and had blessed for the inmates.
The event was also attended by the Chief of Defence Staff General Shavendra Silva WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc MPhil, Commander of the Sri Lanka Army Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage RWP RSP ndu. Further, staffers of the Mihindu Seth Medura, senior military officers, and other ranks were also present at the event.
The event was also comprised of refreshments arranged for the inmates which were also attended by the visiting dignitaries of the event. Concluding the day’s programme, the State Minister of Defence and National Security Advisor to the President placed their compliments and best wishes to the inmates and staff of the centre by signing the Visitors’ Book at the Mihindu Seth Madura.
