The Competitive Examination that was scheduled to take place today (25th March) to recruit graduates for the Sri Lanka Teachers’ Service as graduate teachers for National and Provincial schools has been postponed. Examinations Commissioner Amith Jayasundara has announced that this decision was made by the Education Ministry as per an order from the Supreme Court.
The examination was meant to take place across the country at 341 examination centres to fill vacancies for graduates who are currently serving as Development Officers (DO) in the state service. The new examination date will be notified to candidates by the Examination Department in accordance with the Supreme Court’s directive.
The Examination Department has already sent admission cards to the candidates who are qualified to sit for the recruitment examination. Once recruitment is completed, provincial councils will conduct recruitment examinations annually to fill any remaining teacher vacancies on a provincial basis.
It is the responsibility of the Education Ministry and Provincial Education Ministries to calculate teacher vacancies and recruit accordingly. More information regarding the rescheduled examination date will be made available to candidates by the Examination Department.
