Opposition MP Harsha de Silva has announced that several corporate organizations have come forward to support the ‘Adopt an Ambulance’ program, which aims to aid the Suwaseriya ambulance service, specifically the 1990 free ambulance service. In a recent Twitter post, the MP confirmed that all donations to the government of Sri Lanka for this cause will be fully tax-deductible. He also expressed gratitude for the generous response from the corporates, stating that adoptions are pouring in. The MP urged those interested to provide their assistance before the 31st March deadline, emphasizing that all donations to this noble cause will be 100% tax-deductible.

The Board and Management of the Suwaseriya ambulance service launched the ‘Adopt an Ambulance’ program due to insufficient funding from the Treasury, which could make the service unsustainable in 2023. The program aims to raise funds from corporates and individuals to provide an ambulance at a cost of Rs. 5 million.
