Sri Lankan Archers set up a world record

A momentous occasion unfolded at the Diyagama Mahinda Rajapaksa Stadium on Sunday, as 128 Sri Lankan archers etched their names into the annals of history by setting a remarkable new world record. The Lankan archers achieved the breathtaking feat of shooting an astounding 30,000 arrows within a span of just one hour and forty minutes.

This newly established record far surpassed the previous feat held by Indian archers, who managed to shoot 17,000 arrows in one hour and thirty minutes, with the participation of 100 individuals.

The Sri Lankan contingent’s accomplishment not only outdid the previous record in volume but also in the speed of execution, adding to the splendour of their achievement.

The extraordinary event was meticulously organized by the Colombo-based Sagittarius Archery Club and Race Course Archery Club, two leading bodies that have been at the forefront of promoting the sport in the country.

Their aim was not only to break the existing record but also to ignite widespread awareness and interest in archery, a sport that has often been overlooked. This record-breaking moment will undoubtedly be etched in the annals of Sri Lankan archery history, propelling the sport to new heights and garnering international acclaim.
