‘Manna Roshan’ and accomplice shot dead in gang war

The bodies of two persons who had been shot dead were recovered from a vacant land at Tunnana in Padukka yesterday, Police said. The deceased have been identified as those of underworld figure Roshan Indika alias ‘Manna Roshan’ and his accomplice, 34-year-old Supun Thinesh.

Investigations have revealed that an underworld figure named ‘Kannadi Thilina’ carried out the shooting under the direction of Lalith Kannangara, an underworld strongman involved in drug trafficking, who lives in Dubai.

Roshan Indika was a resident of Hanwella, Thiripola. He was 36-years-old and a father of two. Police said Indika, who was a sand and gravel trader, was also a person who had connections with the underworld.

According to the information received by the Police, he was involved in several crimes and was heavily addicted to drugs.

Investigations have revealed that Roshan had left the house in the middle of the night after he received a phone call from Lalith Kannangara.

Roshan was driving the jeep and he died of gunshot wounds to the head and abdomen, Police said.

Supun, who was travelling with him, was also shot and fell down and died about 13 metres away from the vehicle, Police said.

The vehicle in which these two people were travelling was hit by 11 bullets and 15 T-56 bullet casings were found at the scene of the crime.

In addition to the Hanwella Police, the Western Province South Crime Division is conducting investigations to arrest the suspects involved in the shooting.
