Controlled Import of Motor Vehicles for Tourism

The Import and Export (Control) Regulations No. 7 of 2024 introduces controlled import of motor vehicles specifically for tourism purposes. This follows the temporary suspension of motor vehicle imports as per the Import and Export (Control) Regulations No. 2 of 2023.

On April 1, the Cabinet approved the import of 250 small buses and 750 vans for tourism, in line with a proposal by the Minister of Tourism and Lands. This approval aims to boost activities in the tourism sector.

Promoting Efficient and Safe Trade Transport

Additionally, the Cabinet has approved new regulations designed to promote efficient and safe trade transport while ensuring fair opportunities for both local and international products. These regulations, published in an extraordinary gazette, aim to create a balanced and effective trade environment.

Government’s Effort to Strengthen Regulatory Framework

The proposal for these new regulations was presented by the President in his capacity as the Minister of Finance, Economic Stabilization, and National Policies. The regulations will soon be submitted to Parliament for approval, reflecting the Government’s commitment to strengthening the regulatory framework for imports and exports.
