Twelve youths have been arrested for performing dangerous motorbike stunts on the Kesbewa-Jaliyagoda alternative road, according to police reports. A total of 18 motorbikes were seized during the operation, though six individuals managed to flee the scene.
The raid was conducted by Piliyandala Police following complaints from residents, who reported a growing problem of three-wheelers and motorbikes being used for stunts in the area, causing a disturbance.
At least 10 police officers were deployed to the scene, where it was discovered that some of the stunts were performed for TikTok challenges, while others were part of bets worth up to Rs. 100,000.
The arrested youths were released on bail and are scheduled to appear before the Kesbewa court on Wednesday, September 18. Police are still searching for the individuals who fled, using the bike number plates to track them down.
