Six educators, including a school principal, have been detained by the Examinations Department for questioning following allegations of leaking the Grade 5 Scholarship Examination paper. According to a report by the *Lankadeepa* newspaper, one of the teachers on duty during the exam allegedly took photos of the first question paper just 10 minutes before the exam commenced on Sunday, September 15.
The images were reportedly shared with several other teachers. As a result, the teachers, who work at schools in Anuradhapura and Nochchiyagama, have been taken into custody along with their mobile devices for further questioning.
Additionally, an investigation is ongoing to determine whether the exam paper was leaked on social media prior to the exam. The head of the Examinations Department mentioned that three questions, which had been shared in discussions the day before the exam and closely resemble those in the scholarship paper, are under review. If confirmed as leaked, these questions will be disregarded during the marking process.
