Several significant appointments have been made as the 10th Parliament of Sri Lanka convened for its inaugural session.
- Deputy Speaker: Dr. Rizvie Salih, National People’s Power (NPP) MP for Colombo District, has been named Deputy Speaker. His appointment was proposed by Government Spokesman Minister Nalinda Jayatissa and seconded by Minister Saroja Paulraj.
- Deputy Chairperson of Committees: Hemali Weerasekera, NPP MP representing Gampaha District, has been appointed as Deputy Chairperson of Committees. Her name was put forward by Minister Sunil Handunneththi.
- Opposition Leader: Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) Leader Sajith Premadasa was officially recognized as the Opposition Leader by the Speaker.
- Speaker of the House: NPP MP Ashoka Sapumal Ranwala was elected as the Speaker of the 10th Parliament.
