A section of R.A. de Mel Mawatha, closed since 2005 for security reasons, has been reopened for public use after 19 years. The road, located in the Kollupitiya Police area, runs from St. Michael’s Roundabout to Rotunda Roundabout along Temple Trees.

According to a statement from the Ministry of Defence, the road was reopened on October 4th following their intervention. For the time being, traffic will be permitted in one direction due to ongoing repair work. Once the repairs are completed, both lanes will be fully open to vehicular movement.
