Colombo, October 8 – The new Cabinet has decided to discontinue three projects initiated by the former government, including the termination of contract-based officers and consultants involved in them.

The Cabinet also announced plans to create an “Office for the Affairs of Sri Lankans Abroad” under the President’s Office, as well as to establish a “National Peoples Council” and launch an “Agriculture Modernization Programme.”

President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, after briefing the Cabinet, decided to end these contracts effective September 30, 2024. Cabinet Spokesman Vijitha Herath stated that the relevant Ministries are now equipped to manage these functions directly.
