CHIEF OF DEFENCE STAFF VISITS SECURITY FORCES – JAFFNA

The Chief of Defence Staff, General Shavendra Silva WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc MPhil, visited the Security Forces Headquarters (Jaffna) (14 October 2022) and was received by Major General WMGCSB Wijayasundara RSP USP ndu, the Security Forces Commander Jaffna on arrival at the SLAF Station Palaly.

Subsequently, addressing the troops, the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) thanked all Officers and Other Ranks who supported many numerous projects, endeavours, launched by CDS during his office as the 23rd Commander of the Sri Lanka Army. During the speech, CDS highlighted that he was able to discharge his duties impeccably mainly because of the untiring commitments and all engagements, activities conducted meeting high ends by all ranks of the Army.

Similarly, CDS conveyed his gratitude to all troops who engaged in numerous operations conducted during the height of Covid-19 pandemic as well as during the challenging period prevailed in the country recently. Further, CDS specifically stressed that the professional and responsible discharge of duties by all troops island wide, was able to win the hearts and minds of the majority of general public.

At the same time, he specifically requested all officers and other ranks to continue to extend the same responsible and professional support to the incumbent Commander of the Army to execute the worthy cause for the motherland.

Towards the end of the address, SF Commander Jaffna presented a memento marking the occasion which was reciprocated by the Chief of Defence Staff. Prior to leaving from Jaffna, CDS interacted with all officers and other ranks during a refreshment session arranged and posed for a group photograph.

GOCs of Divisions, FMA Commander, Brigade Commanders, a cross section of Officers and Other Ranks under command to SFHQ (J) were present at the occasion
