UK DEFENCE ACADEMY COMMANDANT VISITS THE CHIEF OF DEFENCE STAFF

The Chief Executive and Commandant of the Defence Academy of the United Kingdom, Major General A M Roe CB, called on the Chief of Defence Staff, General Shavendra Silva WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc MPhil, today evening (01 November) at his office.

Warmly welcoming the Commandant, the Chief of Defence Staff gratefully mentioned that the pamphlets, doctrines and military publications followed by the Sri Lanka Army since its inception were originated by the British Military and they were able to bring victories in past operations. He further elaborated that, the solid foundation that had been laid by the British were instrumental in introducing the new military publications to the Sri Lanka Army lately that are uniquely formed through past experience and knowledge whilst considering the local conditions. He was further thankful to the visiting Commandant for the training opportunities offered for the Sri Lankan military personnel over the years whilst referring the senior officer who is presently following military studies at the Royal College of Defence Studies.

General Shavendra Silva also elaborated on the importance of the visits of this nature in further broadening the possible training opportunities between two outfits. He further highlighted the importance of affiliating the training institutes of two nations to gain global recognition for the degrees awarded. This affiliation will further be fostered for implementing instructor exchange programmes where knowledge can be shared between two nations in future.

The brief interaction came to an end with the formal exchange of mementoes to signify the event.
