The 13th contingent of the Sri Lanka Force Protection Company (SLFPC) in the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) returned to the island today (1 March) upon completion of their service tenure in the UNIFIL.
During the first phase, one Officer and 89 Other Ranks returned to the island today (1) and the remaining group is expected to return after the 14th SLFPC, set to leave for Lebanon on Thursday (2), undertakes responsibilities in a few days.
The Centre Commandant, Sri Lanka Light Infantry (SLLI) Regimental Centre and its Deputy Centre Commandant with several Officers and relatives were at the airport to receive the first batch.
The Army’s 13th SLFPC includes 10 Officers and 115 Other Ranks, together with 1 Lady Officer and 7 women soldiers for the first time and the contingent is mainly composed of SLLI Regiment troops and they left for Lebanon on 27 February 2022.
