Yesterday (24th March), during a parliamentary session, Education Minister Dr. Susil Premajayantha revealed that a loan scheme for higher education, aimed at students of non-government universities, will be submitted to the Cabinet of Ministers for approval next week. According to the Minister, the scheme has already received approval from the Finance Ministry, and over 5,000 students will benefit from this loan, which is being offered by not only the Bank of Ceylon but also three other banks.
Dr. Premajayantha further added that once the scheme is approved, necessary regulations will be put in place, and these regulations will be announced after Monday.
