Hatton Plantations PLC, was felicitated “ TAGS 2023”, by the Institute of Charted Accountants in Sri Lanka (CA, Sri Lanka) for the 58th consecutive year with recognition for the plantations sector in Sri Lanka. This award ceremony was held at the CA Sri Lanka Auditorium in Colombo on December 12, 2023.
The TAGS organizers selected the winners in each category based on a comprehensive evaluation of the annual reports of the participants. TAGS stands for Transparency, Accountability, Governance, and Sustainability, and the newly rebranded awards will reflect the core values to strengthen and uphold the integrity of financial, environmental, social, and governance reporting, apart from promoting the need to increase the transparency of companies that produce annual reports.
The objectives of the TAGS awards are to encourage effective communication with stakeholders through the publication of informative annual reports, to promote the effective presentation of financial and non-financial information, to comply with legislative requirements and Sri Lanka Accounting Standards (SLFRS), and to adopt the best global reporting practices.
Hatton Plantations PLC is one of the best Ceylon tea producers on the island, owning 13 tea estates in the Hatton, Watawala and Lindula regions. During this year’s TAGS competition, the company was recognized as one of the best contributors in the plantation industry.
