President Ranil Wickremesinghe stated that the economic stability achieved under his leadership has enabled Sajith Premadasa and Anura Kumara Dissanayake, who had previously retreated during the economic crisis, to now participate in the upcoming presidential election.
Addressing members of the United National Party (UNP) during the “Puluwan Sri Lanka” victory rally at Kekirawa Public Stadium earlier today (01), President Wickremesinghe emphasized that this stability is a direct result of his governance. He argued that Sajith Premadasa has no chance of winning the election and warned that a vote for Sajith would essentially be a vote for Anura, urging party members to remain true to the UNP’s principles.
The President also mentioned that if his administration encounters challenges, any new government must be built on a solid foundation, informed by past experiences. He called on the public to give him a mandate to construct this future foundation. Criticizing Sajith and Anura’s calls for drastic change, which he likened to burning down a house, President Wickremesinghe concluded by stating that his success in the upcoming election would be a victory for the entire nation.
