United National Front leader Patali Champika Ranawaka has criticized the leaders of the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) for their double standards, accusing them of sending their own children to private universities while students in state universities suffer due to JVP policies.
Speaking at a rally in Kandy on Sunday (1st), Ranawaka condemned the JVP for fostering a culture of “ragging” in state universities, which has instilled fear among parents nationwide. He argued that this environment has driven many families to opt for private universities, a choice that JVP leaders themselves make for their children, while the children of ordinary citizens are left to face violence and unrest in public universities.
