The value of the US dollar has been dwindling against the Sri Lankan rupee, as evidenced by the latest figures from the black markets of Pettah, Wellawatte, Galle, Bentota, and Beruwala. According to a money exchange broker, the dollar was only fetching around Rs 270 during the closing trade on Friday, March 10, which is significantly lower than the official rate of Rs. 317 to the dollar.
The broker attributed the daily decline of the dollar’s value to the recent upward trend of the Sri Lankan rupee. Furthermore, the broker predicted that the dollar’s value might continue to drop in the upcoming days.
