Sri Lanka Launches Online Authentication for Birth, Marriage, and Death Certificates

Sri Lankan citizens can now authenticate their birth, marriage, and death certificates online through the Consular Affairs Division’s new platform.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced that once authenticated, these certificates will be emailed directly to the applicant, removing the need for in-person visits for submission or collection.

This online authentication service was launched by the Ministry in collaboration with the Registrar General’s Department.

To use the service, applicants should:

  1. Visit the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ official website and access the online application portal: https://mfa.gov.lk/online-consular-services/.
  2. After submitting the required details, applicants will receive a payment link. The fees for certificate generation and authentication can be paid online.
  3. Once the payment is made, the authenticated document (customer copy) will be sent to the applicant’s email address. This customer copy must be presented to relevant foreign missions if necessary.

For further assistance, the Consular Affairs Division can be contacted via the hotlines 011-2338812 or 0112-446302, or by email at [email protected].
